Embrace Progress Over Perfection
The Power of Simply starting
Mes Chères, how often do we find ourselves hesitating to begin something because it’s not the “perfect” time, or because we fear it won’t turn out exactly how we envision? But here’s the truth: perfection is overrated. What matters most is that we start, that we take those small steps toward something meaningful—even if it’s messy or imperfect.
I can honestly say I’ve never accomplished anything I’ve set my mind to that didn’t leave me proud, regardless of how perfectly it turned out. Whether it’s the simplest of tasks or the most overwhelming projects, there’s always a moment of pride in just getting it done. I remember the countless papers I wrote in school, dreading every single one. Yet recently, I stumbled upon an old box of those very papers, and seeing the grades on them brought me a huge sense of accomplishment. It reminded me that even the things I once dreaded were part of what made me the woman I am today.
I used to shy away from reading and writing, feeling inadequate because I was physically slower at reading and often struggled with articulating my thoughts on paper. I believed this made me “bad” at both. But now, I see that couldn't be further from the truth. Reading has become one of my greatest joys— an escape to distant lands and timelines. And as for writing, well, I’ve embraced it, even though I still rely on spellcheck and know I’m not perfect at it. Who cares if I don’t spell every word right? My vocabulary has grown, and I now understand the true power of expression—it doesn’t need to be flawless, it just needs to be authentic.
The beauty of life lies in the process, not in the unattainable goal of perfection. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that showing up and starting, even when it feels daunting, is where the magic happens. I encourage you to embrace that idea in your own life. Whether it's a task you’ve been putting off or a dream you’ve been too afraid to pursue, just begin. There’s nothing more powerful than the confidence that comes from action, even if it’s not perfect.
So here’s my gentle reminder to you: You can accomplish great things if you simply start. Every small step you take is a victory, every attempt a learning experience, and every completed task a testament to your resilience and growth.
Let’s make a pact, to stop chasing perfection and start celebrating progress. I promise you will be amazed at what you are capable of.
